I had diarrhea after having seafood last night. Did I have food poisoning or gastroenteritis?

Dr Chung Wing Sze
Many people mistaken gastroenteritis for food poisoning. In fact, gastroenteritis is caused by pathogens in food, bacteria or parasites. Common symptoms include diarrhea, stomache, nausea and vomiting. On the other hand, food poisoning cover a wide range of food-borne diseases, which can be caused by food viruses or bacteria, food toxins (such as blowfishes and toxic mushrooms), inappropriate food storage or cleansing procedures. If people eat such food, they may show symptoms of gastroenteritis.
