Bleeding:
Bleeding can usually be stopped by applying direct pressure to the wound
All wounds require immediate thorough cleansing with clean water
Wounded extremities should be immobilized and elevated
If the bleeding continues and seeps through the bandage, add more absorbent material. Do not remove the first bandage
Wound dressing:
Use antiseptic lotion for general wound dressing
Clean the wound from the central part, avoid bringing germs from outside the wound
Cover wound with commercially available dressing material, such as clean gauze
Seek medical care for any suspected wound infection
