If I have chest pain, is it necessary to seek for medical help immediately?

Dr Yan Ka Lok
Chest pain has many possible causes, all of which deserve medical attention. It could be angina pectoris associated with heart attack, or chest burning caused by acid reflux. It is difficult for patients to confirm the cause by themselves. Therefore, if you have experienced chest pain for more than 5 minutes, you should go to hospital at once. Some patients of coronary disease are prescribed with Glyceryl Trinitrate Sublingual Tablet, they can place the tablets under their tongue immediately if they encounter chest pain. If the situation does not improve, he/she should contact his/her doctor or go to emergency department immediately.
