Is it useful to put on an ice patch to stop nose bleeding?

Dr Cheung Chin Pang
It is not recommended to use ice patch to stop nosebleeds, because coldness would weaken blood clotting, making it unable to stop the bleeding. The correct way to stop nosebleeds is to sit down or stand up and lean forward to stop the blood from flowing back to your throat and stomach, and you should breathe with your mouth and apply pressure on the fleshy front of your nose. In general, the bleeding should be stopped in 5 to 10 minutes. If the bleeding continues, you should go to hospital immediately.
