Adult - Snake or Insect Bite


Symptoms of snakebite:

  • Visual disturbance
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Wound pain and swell
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Change in consciousness
  • Profuse sweating

First aid to patient:

  • Try to take a picture or memorize the appearance of the snake
  • Immobilize the injured part, reduce physical activities
  • Rest the victim remove rings and constrictive rings from injured limb
  • Do not message the wound or suck the wound in anyway
  • Don’t drink alcohol or smoke
  • Transport the patient as soon as possible to medical care

Symptoms of insect sting:

  • Wound pain and swell
  • Shock

First aid to patient:

  • Remove sting if present by scraping out the sting with nail clipper or credit card, without squeezing
  • Seek medical advice
